| | | Welcome to this month's edition of Port of Brisbane News.
It was a busy month for Trade, with our annual Trade Forum held for shipping line customers and trade stakeholders while members of the Trade Development team attended the Australian Cotton Conference.
We were delighted to announce earlier this month that Bridgestone Australia will be making the move to the Port, with a new Queensland distribution centre to be constructed in Port West Stage 2.
Around 340 additional car parking spaces are now available for passengers and cruise staff at the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal following the completion of our car park expansion project, ahead of the summer cruise season.

| | Trade update It was a solid year for trade through the Port of Brisbane, with total trade reaching over 32 million tonnes during 2023/24. Containers performed strongly, with over 1.61 million containers handled through the Port over the same period – a record volume. It was also a record year for cotton exports following a good growing season, with over 63,000 TEUs exported to global markets. Strong cotton volumes have continued into July, the first month of FY25.
On average, around 50% of the national cotton crop is exported through the Port of Brisbane every year.
Vietnam remains the dominant market for Australian cotton, accounting for almost a quarter of the country's total cotton exports, followed by China as the second largest market.
We look forward to opportunities to engage with our customers and cotton supply chain partners and were delighted to again be a silver sponsor of this year's Australian Cotton Conference on the Gold Coast earlier this month. |
