Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) would like to provide members with an important update regarding ongoing delays at DP World's Melbourne terminal.
Following a scheduled IT system upgrade that took place on Friday 13 September, DP World's Melbourne terminal has been experiencing significant and intermittent issues, which have impacted operations throughout the weekend and into today. These complications have caused major disruptions to truck servicing, leading to extensive queuing and delays for transport companies.
According to DP World, it will likely take the remainder of today, and possibly into tomorrow, to fully recover and reorganise operations. The terminal is currently working through each of the requests they have received, but they ask for patience as they do so.
The impact has extended beyond DP World, with members reporting queuing is affecting surrounding areas and key access routes. Additionally, the delays are beginning to impact operations at other terminals, as trucks are struggling to return to or leave from their respective yards, which is affecting receival and delivery operations.
Further updates will be available via the FTA website.
FTA / APSA recommends that members reach out to the terminal directly for any storage related questions and/or the relevant shipping line to discuss any detention related matters relating to any shipments impacted.
