Pilbara Ports annual Safe Ships Safe Ports Forum has come to a close, following two successful days of keynote speakers, panel discussions and networking opportunities.
The forum is one of Australia's largest maritime conferences and the only forum of its kind in Western Australia. It provides a unique opportunity for industry leaders to collaborate on reducing safety risks and improving efficiency across the maritime sector.
Minister for Ports Hon David Michael MLA opened the 2024 Safe Ships Safe Ports Forum in Perth on Monday.
Highlights from the forum include presentations and Q&A sessions involving industry experts and representatives from the International Harbour Masters Association, Mission to Seafarers and the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation.
Pilbara Ports Chief Executive Officer, Samuel McSkimming said the forum had been an invaluable opportunity to discuss industry regulations and new developments, training initiatives and sustainable shipping, future marine industry challenges and opportunities and advances in maritime safety.
"The 2024 Safe Ships Safe Ports Forum is a fantastic platform for us to highlight the possibilities of the Pilbara on a global stage, with over 500 delegates from 21 countries attending to hear about the work we do, and share their successes as well," Mr McSkimming said.
"Collaboration is an exceptionally important aspect of the maritime industry, and we are really proud to host this event and encourage information sharing between our international counterparts."
