October 25, 2024 - Seven day strike now underway at Brisbane and Darwin
Seven days of industrial action kicked off at one minute past midnight today. Including today, there will be extensive industrial action for seven days at Brisbane and Darwin.
The strikes are in the context of the the Qube / MUA enterprise bargaining.
The industrial actions are as follows:
An eight hour stoppage when a vessel ties up at berth
Only shifts of eight hours will be worked
Work will only start at 0700, or 1500, or 2300
There will be no shift extensions
There is a ban on the performance of shift pre-starts
Work will not be carried out during meal or other breaks
Once a start time is ordered, there will be no variations to that start time
No call ins outside of an allocated shift
Bans on the performance of Grade 5, 6, or 7 work
Driving speeds will be limited to 15 km / hour on the wharf for PCC and ro-ro operations
There will be no transfer between berths and sites once allocated to work
Personal phones will not be used for work purposes on shift
There will be a one-hour stoppage of work at 0530, 1330, and 2130 daily, starting today.
Qube advises that it will communicate directly in respect of vessels that are affected.
