TRANSFORMING RURAL CONTAINER PROCESSING
ON DOCK RURAL TAILGATE SOLUTION
Streamline Your Operations with Victoria International Container Terminal's Rural Tailgate Inspection Services
Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) is excited to share an important update for our members, specifically those utilising the Port of Melbourne with containers destined to be unpacked in Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry (DAFF) determined rural destination.
Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT), a valued sponsor of FTA, now offers certified 14.4 Rural Tailgate Inspection services directly at their premises at Webb Dock in the Port of Melbourne.
This service is critical for containers moving to rural areas of Victoria, as it satisfies the Biosecurity inspection requirement set by DAFF.
By performing the inspection at the terminal itself, you can eliminate the need for an additional transfer to another location, significantly reducing costs and time. VICT's certified staff and specialised equipment ensure that inspections are done quickly and efficiently, allowing your cargo to move to its destination with minimal delays.
Why This Matters for You:
- Cost Savings: No need for further container movement beyond the terminal.
- Time Efficiency: Inspections are conducted directly at the terminal.
- Compliance: VICT is fully certified to perform the 14.4 Tailgate Inspection, ensuring that your containers meet all regulatory requirements.
FTA and Regulatory Reform
FTA has long been a champion of reforms within DAFF, advocating for the wider adoption of the 14.4 Rural Tailgates to help DAFF maximise its resources. As part of this commitment, FTA has actively worked with DAFF to improve and streamline Biosecurity processes, ensuring that industry can begin to benefit from a more efficient system.
