Introduction of Inbound Connect Vehicle Booking System (VBS) in Darwin

Effective from 2 December 2024

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have received notice from Inbound Connect that, in order to enhance efficiency, safety and compliance outcomes at the terminals, the Inbound Connect Vehicle Booking System (VBS) will implemented by LINX Port Services and QUBE Ports at East Arm Wharf.
Effective from Monday 2 December 2024, timeslot bookings via Inbound Connect will be mandatory.

Following is the official announcement:

Important Announcement to all East Arm Wharf Carriers

In consultation with Australian Border Force, Darwin Port and all Stevedores, a new vehicle booking system called Inbound Connect is being implemented by LINX Port Services and QUBE Ports to improve the efficiency, safety and compliance outcomes for all stakeholders.

Why is this change being introduced?

  1. To ensure that Cargo Handlers, Stevedores and Darwin Port remain compliant with Australian Border Force regulations and security requirements.
  2. To improve the overall operations and to provide a more efficient service for clients and the transport operators, including faster and more reliable truck turnaround times.
  3. To provide accurate, real-time vessel schedule and availability information to clients and transport operators online.

What will this mean for Transport Operators?

From Monday 2 December 2024, transport operators will be required to make a timeslot booking at www.inboundconnect.com for every pick-up (import) or drop-off (export). One timeslot booking is required for each container, or one booking per truck for non-containerised freight.
To make a timeslot booking, transport operators will be required to register an account at www.inboundconnect.com. Full details of the business rules associated with the introduction of Inbound Connect, including timeslot booking fees, can be found at www.inboundconnect.com under 'Site Access Rules' for each stevedore (LINX Port Services and QUBE Ports).
Timeslot bookings via Inbound Connect are mandatory from Monday 2 December 2024 – no timeslot booking, no entry.

What should Transport Operators do now?

  1. Log on to www.inboundconnect.com and register an Inbound account.
  2. Email support@inboundconnect.com or call 1300 803 873 if you require any assistance, or would like to be registered for one of Inbound Connect's online user training sessions.
