We have released the final report for the Importation of zoo hippopotamuses and their semen from approved countries. 

The report supports the importation of eligible common and pygmy hippos and their semen from approved countries, into Australian zoos, for the first time in 40 years.

Biosecurity risks have been carefully considered and risk management measures recommended to ensure they meet Australia's Appropriate Level of Protection.
