Who does this notice affect?

Importers, biosecurity industry participants and accredited persons operating under the department's class 19 approved arrangements, freight forwarders and other industry participants who arrange documentation for imported goods.

What has changed?

Following the Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy – Industry focus groups conducted in April 2024, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is publishing new resources to enhance understanding of the policy and improve regulatory outcomes.

The following changes have been made to our webpages and resources:

• Frequently asked questions have been published on the Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy webpage. The answers to these questions aim to clarify interpretation and should be read in conjunction with the entire policy.
• The Acceptable documentation templates webpage has been updated to include:
  • Separate LCL and FCL/X packing declaration templates
  • A fact sheet explaining how to prepare a packing declaration, and
  • Examples of acceptable and unacceptable packing declarations
• Outdated content has been removed from the Documentary requirements for imported goods webpage.

Note: Previous versions of the packing declaration templates remain acceptable provided relevant aspects of the Non-commodity information requirements policy and the Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy are met.
