Celebrating 10 years of JAEPA and KAFTA

Australia is celebrating the 10th anniversary of trade agreements with two important trade partners this year.

The Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement entered into force on 15 January 2015. Since then, Australia's goods and services exports to Japan have almost doubled in value, reaching $90.2 billion.

And two-way trade between Australia and Korea has more than doubled from $33 billion in 2013 to $71 billion in 2023 since the Korea-Australia Free Trade Agreement entered into force on 12 December 2014.

Demand for sheep meat set to rise

Global demand for Australia's high-quality sheep meat exports has been trending upwards and is expected to continue, according to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Red meat exports continue to record momentum

Beef exports rose to 81,050 tonnes, the largest January volume on record. The US was the largest market for beef, lamb and goat, while China was the largest market for mutton. Australian beef now claims a 45% market share in Korea.
