Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) are pleased to update members on a significant process improvement at DP World Australia (DPWA) West Swanson Terminal (WST).
In our December 2024 member notice, we highlighted member concerns regarding slot availability and the unique requirement at DPWA WST for a CLEAR status in the Integrated Cargo System (ICS) before a slot could be booked—an issue that impacted cash flow for importers and added administrative burdens for intermediary service providers.
As a direct outcome of continued advocacy from FTA/APSA and our members, DPWA has today announced a key process improvement, allowing transport operators to book slots for HELD containers in 1-Stop, effective immediately.
What does this mean for members?- Carriers will now see and book slots for containers that are 'HELD' in 1-Stop, providing greater flexibility in scheduling.
- Importantly, the ability to manifest a container remains subject to the unit being clear of all impediments.

DPWA has also acknowledged that further enhancements are in progress, with updates to be shared in due course.
We extend our thanks to our members for their engagement and for providing ongoing examples of challenges at WST. Your input has been invaluable in driving this outcome. FTA/APSA will continue to monitor the situation and work with DPWA to ensure that further refinements to slot booking processes align with industry needs.
We encourage members to keep sharing feedback to support our advocacy for improved operational efficiencies.
