Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have received from Qantas Freight a request to share important compliance messaging relating to air cargo security processes.
To support industry-wide compliance with the Department of Home Affairs and the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre (CISC), Qantas Freight has asked for assistance in reinforcing the importance of using descriptive, non-generic language on Air Waybills (AWB) and Cargo Security Declarations (CSD).
This guidance is aligned with regulatory requirements under the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005 – Section 4.41D. Regular audits will be conducted at Qantas Freight terminals, and non-compliance may result in freight being delayed or rejected.
FTA/APSA strongly encourages members to review internal procedures to ensure shipment documentation meets the required level of detail and accuracy.
For more information, please refer to the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre website and review the relevant section of the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005.
