China Southern Airlines will increase its number of services to Brisbane from 4 flights per week to daily services, year-round.

The daily flights will inject an additional 48,984 inbound seats to Queensland from China annually.

"China is one of Queensland's most important inbound tourism markets, so the step-up to daily flights by China Southern Airlines is a big boost for local jobs. We know visitors travelling to Brisbane disperse throughout the state, so we could not be happier with this news," said Brisbane Airport CEO, Gert-Jan de Graaff.

The expansion of the Airbus A350 service will begin from 10 June.

"The move to increase the Guangzhou-Brisbane route to a daily service reflects China Southern Airlines' confidence in the route's strong performance and its promising future growth. This decision not only responds proactively to robust market demand, but also represents a pivotal step toward fostering deeper development in the China-Australia aviation market," China Southern Airlines Regional General Manager Australia and New Zealand, Mr. Jason Sun Zhixing.

The expanded schedule will provide greater flexibility and convenience for business and leisure travellers, reinforcing the strong trade and tourism links between Queensland and China.

The daily service will also enhance cargo capacity, supporting Queensland's exports to one of its largest trading partners.

China Southern Airlines, one of the world's largest carriers, has a long-standing commitment to the Australian market. The increased frequency will provide seamless connections through Guangzhou, a major international hub, to destinations across China, Asia, and beyond.

China Southern Airlines returned to Brisbane in November 2023, with support from Queensland's Attracting Aviation Investment Fund, a joint State Government and airports initiative.

Minister for the Environment and Tourism, Minister for Science and Innovation Andrew Powell welcomed the vote of confidence in the Queensland market.

"Queensland is open for business and ready to welcome more visitors from China," said Minister Powell.

"Whether it's mountain bike riding in Smithfield near Cairns, snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, or discovering the Dinosaur Stampede in Western Queensland, there's something for everyone in Queensland."

"Increased flights to China also mean exceptional access to markets across Asia for Queensland exporters and that's great news for regional economies."

New additional flights will depart on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

2025 marks 100 years of Brisbane Airport's growth from a tiny aerodrome to Australia's third largest airport.

On January 1, Brisbane Airport became the first airport in Australia to announce that travel through its terminals was now via 100% renewable backed energy

With more than $5 billion of investment planned as part of Future BNE including major refurbishments to existing terminals, the region's best-connected commercial land, and much more—Brisbane Airport is truly connecting the world and creating the future.
