Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have received a request from Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) to provide feedback on its newly released Preliminary Draft Master Plan - and they want to hear from the freight and logistics community.
WSI is inviting stakeholders to help shape the airport's long-term vision as it positions itself as Sydney's only 24-hour domestic, international, and cargo gateway. With freight demand set to rise and Sydney's aviation capacity expected to double in the next 25 years, this plan matters - and so does your input.
The Preliminary Draft Master Plan outlines the airport's strategy over the next two decades across four key pillars:
- Introduction – Airport facilities and infrastructure overview
- Planning Context – Passenger and cargo growth forecasts
- Sustainability – WSI's approach to long-term environmental and social responsibility
- Forward Plans – Airside development, terminals, ground transport, utilities, and land use
WSI CEO Simon Hickey says the plan sets out a roadmap to meet rising demand and unlock new opportunities for airlines, travellers - and the broader supply chain.
Have your say
FTA/APSA members and stakeholders are encouraged to review the Plan and provide feedback. Your insights will help ensure that freight priorities and practical logistics needs are heard and factored into the airport's future development.
If you would like to contribute to the consolidated response members are encouraged to supply feedback to Amanda Bradfield by Tuesday 26 August 2025 for incorporation into the FTA / APSA submission.
Submissions can also be made direct to Western Sydney International directly by Tuesday 2 September 2025 by emailing directly with 'WSI Master Plan Feedback' included in the subject line.
