Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) would like to inform members of the following announcement by Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT). VICT have today confirmed that it has signed a new four-year enterprise agreement with unions, securing operations until March 2029 without disruption.
VICT, the Australian operation of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), has reached a significant milestone with the signing of a new enterprise agreement with local unions. The deal covers the entirety of VICT's operations at the Port of Melbourne and will remain in place until March 2029.

Secured without disruption to operations, the agreement underlines the strong working relationship between management and the workforce, and sets the foundations for long-term stability. VICT Chief Executive Officer, Bruno Porchietto, said the outcome highlights a shared commitment to collaboration:

"This outcome demonstrates our commitment to working collaboratively with our people and unions. This agreement not only delivers meaningful benefits for employees but also provides VICT with the flexibility needed to service our customers and meet the evolving industry demands."

Key elements of the agreement include:
  • Improved benefits and working conditions for employees.
  • Greater operational flexibility to meet customer and industry needs.
  • A stable and secure industrial relations framework to support future growth and innovation.
By locking in industrial certainty for the next four years, VICT is well placed to continue providing safe, reliable and efficient container handling services. The agreement balances workforce wellbeing with the continuity and certainty required by shipping lines, freight forwarders, importers, exporters and logistics providers in today's competitive supply chain environment.

FTA/APSA welcomes this positive outcome and will continue to monitor developments at Australia's container terminals on behalf of members.
