A US Executive Order has removed the de minimis exemption for international shipments valued at USD$800 or less, effective 29 August 2025. All shipments entering the US must now undergo full commercial customs clearance.
Exemptions apply to letters/flats without merchandise, military mail, and bona fide gifts under USD$100.
Changes to US Customs for Pet and Animal Shipments (AVI)
As a result of this change, all pet and animal shipments (AVI) into the United States now require formal customs clearance. Shippers are strongly advised to consult their AVI Freight Forwarder or clearing agent prior to arrival. Customers may need to engage a licensed customs broker to ensure smooth entry through US ports
