The fifth edition of the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), released by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence, benchmarks 403 container ports worldwide and highlights trends in port efficiency from 2020 to 2024. The report shows that East Asian ports continue to lead in efficiency, with China's Yangshan Port retaining the top spot, while several developing nation ports in Senegal, India, Türkiye, Egypt, and Ecuador have improved their performance.

The CPPI also highlights ongoing challenges, including disruptions from the Red Sea Crisis, Panama Canal constraints, and pandemic-related impacts. U.S. ports remain lower-ranked, with the Port of Philadelphia leading at 26th. This edition introduces multi-year trend analysis and provides insights into strategies for enhancing efficiency, such as digital integration, 24/7 crane operations, and optimized deployment.
