Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) would like to advise members that the NSW Government has commenced public consultation on proposed changes to the Ports and Maritime Administration Regulation 2025 and the Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy (PBLIS) Mandatory Standards.The NSW Government is inviting feedback on proposed changes to the Regulation and current Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy Mandatory Standards, and new Performance Benchmarks Mandatory Standards. This implements endorsed recommendations from the Independent Review of the Ports and Maritime Administration Act (the Act) and Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy (PBLIS), that require regulatory changes. A six-week public consultation period will be carried out from 20 October to 28 November, inviting feedback on the proposed changes required to implement the recommendations.A second round of consultation to consider any refinements to PBLIS regulatory changes based on feedback from this consultation is planned for 2026.Stakeholders are encouraged to review and provide feedback on proposed changes outlined in the:
ConsultationConsultation sessions will be carried out both virtually and in person as required via group discussions and one on one meetings.To participate directly with the NSW Government in consultation activities on the Act or PBLIS, please submit an expression of interest by Friday 24 October.Submissions FTA / APSA will be preparing a detailed submission in response to the consultation, reflecting the views of our freight forwarder, customs broker, importer, exporter, and logistics provider members.Members are encouraged to share any feedback, operational insights, or specific issues they would like considered as part of our collective response.Please direct all comments to tjensen@ftalliance.com.au by Friday, 21 November 2025 to assist in forming our industry position.Written submissions can be made directly via the Act and PBLIS Have Your Say webpage.
