MANDATORY ABF CPD MODULE
 
The Australian Border Force have advised that the Mandatory ABF CPD Module for the customs broker licensing period ending 31 March 2026 will be scheduled to go live on 1 January 2026. Refer HERE

 
MANDATORY CBC ACTIVITY

IMPORTANT UPDATE
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry (DAFF) have advised there will be NO  Mandatory CBC Activity or assessment for the period ending 31 March 2026. Refer HERE

2025-2026 FTA ONLINE CPD & CBC TRAINING PACKAGES


Are you organised for your  Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Continued Biosecurity Competency (CBC) training?

FTA offers online training for the customs broker licencing period 1 April to 31 March each year. The cost of an online training package is $150 (excl. gst) for member organisations bulk discounts are available on a sliding scale. 

Licensed customs brokers not employed by a corporate FTA member, can purchase an Individual Membership which includes online CPD training for the cost of only $300 (excl. gst) per customs broker licensing period.

SENATE COMMITTEE - FREIGHT SUPPLY CHAINS


Picking up on themes from correspondence to the Federal Treasurer on 20 June 2025, FTA / APSA will be preparing a formal submission to the committee. FTA and APSA have made preliminary contact with prominent committee members and will be following up with in-person meetings in Canberra next month -  READ MORE

CEF DELAYS AT PORT BOTANY


Further to last weeks' member notice, extensive delays continue to be reported at the Port Botany Container Examination Facility (CEF). We sought further detail from the Australian Border Force (ABF) and will post any pertinent updates on the FTA website. In the interim, we highly recommend that members access the valuable resources under the Customs Broker Toolbox available HERE

CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR OPERATING HOURS

FTA / APSA have been collating data from various sources in relation to operating hours for service providers, shipping lines and government agencies over the coming Christmas / New Year period.

The information can be seen at the below link, however we remind all members to stay alert to notices from CargoWise / Containerchain and OneStop as well as monitoring the various web sites for changes to what has already been received. This list will be updated as more information comes to hand.

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have lodged a submission to Perth Airport in response to the Perth Airport Master Plan 2026 (Preliminary Draft). The submission reflects input from across Western Australia's freight and logistics sector and highlights the airport's critical role in supporting high-value, time-sensitive and specialist cargo.

It emphasises the need for long-term freight planning that protects industrial land, strengthens landside connectivity, and ensures cargo capacity and resilience keep pace with future growth. READ MORE
