Summary of Key Points

  • The submission timeframe has been extended for the draft export CRIS 2026-27 public consultation until 5pm AEDT Friday 20 March.
  • The draft Dairy exports CRIS and the draft Fish and egg exports CRIS have both been revised and include an erratum, please see updated documents on our Have Your Say platform.
  • You are invited to provide submissions on the 2026-27 CRIS from 29 January 2026 until 5pm AEDT on 20 March 2026.
  • The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) will review and consider feedback collected.
  • A summary of feedback and the department's responses will be included in the final 2026-27 CRIS.
  • The 2026-27 CRIS will be implemented in July 2026.

Background

  • As announced last year the Australian Government will introduce new cost recovery arrangements for export regulatory functions from 1 July 2026 to ensure export regulatory services are sustainably funded and continue to meet export demands.
  • Export arrangements have received $138 million in supplementation measures from Government since 2023-24 and will continue to receive $49 million in supplementation from Government through the transition to full cost recovery in 2029-30.
  • Cost recovery implementation statements provide information on how the department implements cost recovery in export arrangements.
  • We are seeking feedback on the structure of fees and charges, the rationale for charging, how proposed fees may impact businesses, and if there are improvements we can make to CRIS consultation.
