Many thanks to Kelly Crossley, Kelly Thomas and Mary-Fleur Steven for taking the time to chat earlier this week. 2026 CONTINUING BIOSECURITY COMPETENCY (CBC)

As published on DAFF's CBC webpage, CBC 2026-27/01 will be open for completion tomorrow - Thursday, 11 June 2026 on Learnhub.

Effective this year, the CBC activity includes both the learning and assessment component, which will only be delivered through the department's education and training platform, Learnhub.

All accredited persons must complete the CBC activity by Thursday, 23 July 2026.

MYFTACPD TRAINING PLATFORM

Continuing Professional Development Period 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027

NEW PERIOD TOPICS NOW AVAILABLE


When completing topics online via our MYFTACPD training platform, you must only complete topics in your "ACTIVE" library to receive the CPD Points for the period. You can review old courses for reference or as a refresher in your "COMPLETED" library, however any assessments completed will NOT count towards CPD Attainment. This approach is to ensure you remain up to date with current topics when completing your professional development.
Are you organised for your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training?

FTA offers online training for the customs broker licencing period 1 April to 31 March each year. The cost of an online training package is $150 (excl. gst) for member organisations bulk discounts are available on a sliding scale. 


Licensed customs brokers not employed by a corporate FTA member, can purchase an Individual Membership which includes online CPD training for the cost of only $300 (excl. gst) per customs broker licensing period.

Hybrid automatic container carriers boost eco-efficient operations at Victoria International Container Terminal

Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT), International Container Terminal Services, Inc.'s (ICTSI) fully automated operations at the Port of Melbourne, Australia, has deployed four new Kalmar hybrid automatic container carriers (ACC) following their successful commissioning and operational integration over the past several weeks

The new ACCs form part of VICT's expansion program aimed at increasing annual capacity to over 1.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) while supporting more efficient and sustainable terminal operations.  READ MORE

Bees, bats, organic foods benefit from NSW Ports grants

LOCAL schools, sporting clubs and a program designed to help local residents build practical skills in growing food, reducing waste, and making healthy, affordable food choices are among the 14 recipients of this year's NSW Ports Community Grants Program.

 

The program offers one-off grants of up to $25,000 for local initiatives, projects and services operating within eligible postcodes in the vicinity of NSW Ports' sites at Port Botany, Port Kembla and the Enfield and Cooks River Intermodal Terminals.

 

Chief executive Marika Calfas said NSW Ports continued to support a diverse mix of initiatives that contribute to building resilient and thriving communities. READ MORE ( story credit DCN)

Ballarat intermodal freight hub moves closer to completion

Construction is progressing on the $55 million Ballarat intermodal freight hub, a project designed to shift more freight onto rail while supporting industrial growth across western Victoria.

 

The facility, located within the Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ), is expected to become a key freight gateway for regional producers and manufacturers, providing direct access to the broad-gauge Ballarat-Ararat rail corridor and strengthening connections to the Port of Melbourne.The project will also support the movement of more than 300,000 tonnes of grain each year to George Weston Foods' new flour processing facility, which is nearing completion within the employment precinct. While the iron is hot: Lines strike

CARRIERS appear to be going for broke — though they will tell you they're just avoiding going broke — in the China-Australia trade where spot rates are at their highest in 2026 and new rate rises and peak season surcharges are queuing up.

 

The mean SCFI for Shanghai-Sydney has risen by 6% in each of the past two weeks, to hit USD2,974/FEU in Week 23 — which is around USD100 ahead of the previous high point, in week two. READ MORE (story credit DCN)

The Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) is the designated peak shipper body granted status by the Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport under Part X of the Consumer & Competition Act to represent the interests of Australian shippers generally in relation to liner cargo shipping services. Man charged with drug trafficking following operational activity across Melbourne's West

A West Footscray man has been charged following his alleged links to an alleged international crime group conspiring to import tonnes of illicit drugs into Australia.  

 

The Victorian Joint Organised Crime Taskforce (JOCTF) executed search warrants at residences in West Footscray and Flemington last week (28 May, 2026), as part of Operation Bruce Cremorne.  

 

During these warrants, officers seized 2.15kg of heroin, 3.28kg of methamphetamine, approximately $80,000 AUD in cash and a cash counting machine. READ MORE (story credit AFP Newsroom)
