Kwinana Bulk Terminal redevelopment

Fremantle Ports is working closely with customers and stakeholders to develop a coordinated solution for Kwinana Port that accommodates both bulk imports and exports, eases capacity constraints and enables future growth for the broader region.

Kwinana Bulk Terminal supports bulk imports and exports across the State's largest industrial precinct and imports all of WA's clinker - a critical input into cement manufacturing and construction delivery across the State. Fremantle Ports' proposed redevelopment is a significant and transformative major project.

Motor vehicle imports surge in May

Demand for new motor vehicle imports through Fremantle remains strong. In May, 12,731 new vehicles were imported, reflecting sustained momentum across the automotive sector and building on elevated volumes earlier in the year. Year to date, 111,855 new motor vehicles have arrived through the port.

Vehicle volumes continue to underpin non containerised cargo performance, which rose 41 per cent in May, supported by strong new and used motor vehicle imports as well as increases in other transport equipment and scrap metal exports.

Last financial year set a record benchmark with 132,478 new motor vehicles imported. While this year's total is expected to finish slightly lower, volumes remain historically high and continue to demonstrate the strength of the trade.
