Air cargo continues to confound expectations, with volumes increasing by 7% year on year in June in what was expected to be a quiet year for the industry.


One of the key growth engines this year has been semiconductor and AI-related volumes, which have increasingly soared as the year progressed. The trend could already be seen in freight forwarder figures last year, as highlighted in our Top 25 Airfreight Forwarder report. Ambitious Rhenus, our main interview this month, is another forwarder that has identified the trend as a key demand driver for airfreight.
