Western Sydney communities will soon be able to fly from their new 24-hour international gateway to top holiday destinations in Southeast Asia with Vietjet Air (Vietjet) signing on to fly from Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI).
From January 2027, Vietjet will operate two weekly services to Ho Chi Minh City, increasing to three weekly services in March, while the airline's joint venture – Vietjet Thailand – also plans to operate four weekly services between WSI and Bangkok from November 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
Tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City flights taking off in January are now available for purchase online with prices starting at AUD $299, one-way.

WSI CEO Simon Hickey welcomed Vietjet to Sydney's new global gateway and said Western Sydney's communities would be delighted by the opportunity to fly to some of Southeast Asia's top leisure hot spots when services commence in the new year.
"Vietnam is an incredibly popular destination for Aussie travellers – in 2025 alone more than half a million people traveled between New South Wales and Vietnam," he said.
"Add to that, Western Sydney is one of the nation's most diverse and rapidly growing regions that is proudly home to more than half of Greater Sydney's Vietnamese population – over 70,000 people – who regularly visit friends and relatives.
"Having the opportunity to connect seamlessly to their new international airport – via the recently unveiled toll-free M12 – enjoy our state-of-the-art terminal and fly to Ho Chi Minh City and connect with over 40 domestic and international connections, reinforces the choice, flexibility, and global connectivity WSI is excited to provide.
"We're thrilled that tickets will go on sale today for the initial services set to commence in January 2027 – perfect timing for communities looking to utilise some excellent launch offers and for those excited to travel for Lunar New Year, in early February."
The Vietjet Air services from WSI will comprise:
· From Sunday 10 January 2027 – two weekly services will operate every Sunday and Wednesday from WSI to Ho Chi Minh City
· The two services will arrive at 10am at WSI and depart for Ho Chi Minh City at 12.05pm
· From March 2027 - a third weekly service will also begin operating between WSI and Ho Chi Minh City
· The WSI to Ho Chi Minh services will be operated by Vietjet's A330 aircraft that offer 377 seats
· From November 2027, Vietjet Thailand plans to launch four weekly services between WSI and Bangkok. Precise times for that service will be confirmed closer to the launch date
