Digital Skills Project

Customs Broker Subject Matter Experts Sought

Industry Skills Australia (ISA) is seeking subject matter experts from across the transport and logistics sector to contribute to its Digital Skills Project, examining the digital capabilities required across the transport supply chain.

The project responds to the increasing use of digital, automated and emerging technologies across industry and the corresponding need to ensure workforce skills continue to evolve alongside changing operational requirements.

Of particular relevance to Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) members, ISA is currently seeking subject matter experts to participate in working groups developing Digital Occupational Profiles (DOPs) for:

  • Customs Brokers
  • Compliance Officers
  • Schedulers

The Digital Occupational Profiles will identify the digital knowledge, skills and proficiency levels required to effectively perform these roles, based on the DigComp Framework.

Opportunity for Members to Contribute

The development of the Customs Broker Digital Occupational Profile provides an important opportunity for experienced industry practitioners to help ensure future skills requirements reflect the practical realities of customs brokerage and international trade.

FTA/APSA encourages members with relevant expertise to consider participating and contributing their operational knowledge to the project.

ISA has advised that the first phase of the broader Digital Skills Project is focused on the rail sector, with further working groups to be established for occupations across aviation and maritime logistics.

ISA will continue engaging with industry throughout the project, with stakeholder feedback to inform the development of the Digital Occupational Profiles and help ensure they meet industry needs.
