DAFF - IAN : 2026-48 : Plant Exports - Update to performance standards for authorised officers

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise plant industry and authorised officers (AOs) of updates to the performance standards for AOs.

Summary of changes and key points

• The Exports reference: Performance standards for plant export authorised officers has been updated on the Plant Export Operational Manual.
• Updates include:
  • alignment with current legislation, the Export Control Act 2020 and the Export Control (Plants and Plant Products) Rules 2021
  • inclusion of requirements for empty container inspections and China log inspections
  • reduced duplication already covered in other instructional material
  • document formatting updated to align with new instructional material templates.

Background

We conduct regular review of export policy and relevant instructional materials to ensure they remain accurate and fit for purpose.

The performance standards for AOs have been updated so that it is clear, easy to follow and appropriate for our stakeholders.

Responsibilities for authorised officers and establishment occupiers

AOs should familiarise themselves with the revised performance standards.
