Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Commencement of the 2026-27 Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) Risk season - 1 September 2026 Import Industry Advice Notice 151-2026 Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have received advice from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) regarding the commencement of the 2026-27 Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) Risk season - 1 September 2026. The department has advised of several important changes for the upcoming season, including: Introduction of Ethyl Formate as an approved BMSB treatment option for both onshore and offshore use. Removal of the Rolled Goods Policy IIAN 130-2026 Removal of the Safeguarding Arrangements Scheme IIAN 130-2026 BMSB seasonal measures will continue to apply to targeted goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries, and to vessels that berth, load or tranship from target risk countries during the specified risk period. Industry participants should review the updated requirements and assess any impacts on supply chain planning, treatment arrangements, reporting obligations and compliance processes ahead of the commencement of seasonal measures. The department has also advised that consignments treated using Ethyl Formate will require reporting via the Entity Identifier (AEI) field in the Integrated Cargo System using the identifier TREATEDEF.
