Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) wishes to highlight to members that the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) NEXDOC export documentation system is being impacted by a technical issue that is preventing some users from obtaining export permits and certificates.
In an industry notice issued on 1 September, the department said it was aware of the problem and was working with software providers to resolve it as a priority.
The issue affects parties who lodge documentation through third-party software platforms integrated with NEXDOC. According to the department, affected users may receive error messages linked to either the "Manufactured/Treated/packaged/Labelled in Australia" field or the "Preferred weight unit" field when attempting to process export documentation.
The department has emphasised that the problem does not affect all NEXDOC users. Exporters who access NEXDOC directly through the department's online portal can continue to use the system as normal.
Businesses encountering either of the identified errors have been advised to first contact their software provider, which may be able to assist in resolving the issue. If the software provider is unable to fix the problem, users are being asked to contact the NEXDOC Helpdesk and advise which software platform they are using.
The department said it is liaising directly with software providers while work continues to restore full functionality.
