| Good Morning <<First Name>> Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) have released Victorian Election Priorities 2026, outlining a series of practical recommendations aimed at strengthening Victoria's freight network, trade gateways and supply chain competitiveness.
The Priorities document has been provided to both the Victorian Government and Opposition for consideration ahead of the upcoming State Election. Developed following consultation across FTA/APSA's diverse membership, the paper reflects priorities raised by businesses that rely on Victoria's freight network, ports, airports and supply chain infrastructure.
Importantly, the document is intended to build on the direction established by the Victorian Freight Plan 2025-30 and the recently released Victorian Rail Freight Plan 2026-2036.
Rather than repeating existing commitments, the focus is on areas where additional attention could further strengthen Victoria's position as Australia's freight and logistics capital.
KEY PRIORITIES
Future Freight Gateways
Recommendations include progressing long-term freight access planning for Webb Dock, supporting Melbourne Airport's Third Runway Program, and unlocking Avalon Airport's freight and ecommerce potential.
Commercially Competitive Rail
FTA/APSA supports ongoing efforts to improve rail competitiveness, increase utilisation of the Port Rail Shuttle Network, and strengthen freight network reliability and performance
Productive Supply Chains
The paper highlights the importance of freight corridor protection, supply chain transparency, innovation, and recognising Victoria's role as Tasmania's gateway to domestic and international markets.
FTA/APSA will continue advocating on behalf of members with governments and stakeholders at all levels to progress practical reforms that support freight productivity, strengthen international competitiveness and deliver more efficient supply chains.
