Industrial action in Australia

Published 25 September 2026

The protected industrial action involving some Qantas Ground Services (QGS) and Australian Air Express (AAE) employees has now concluded.

Our contingency plans were activated throughout the period to help maintain service continuity and minimise disruption to customers. While these measures were effective in supporting network operations, some flow-on impacts remain across parts of our terminal network as teams work through backlogs. We are experiencing some resulting delays in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and customers should allow additional time for freight processing.

Terminals remain open, and we are continuing to prioritise safe and efficient operations with a focus on time-sensitive and critical shipments wherever possible.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this period and thank them for their continued support.

FTA / APSA will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates should additional information become available.
