TARGETED FINANCIAL SANCTIONS

Australian Sanctions Office Webinar

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) draw members' attention to an upcoming webinar being hosted by the Australian Sanctions Office (ASO) within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

While the webinar is targeted broadly at financial and non-profit sectors, the subject matter is also highly relevant to international supply chain participants involved in cross-border trade, payments, counterparties and international commercial transactions.

In recent years, sanctions compliance has become an increasingly important consideration for businesses operating in international supply chains.

Freight forwarders, customs brokers, importers and exporters may all encounter situations involving sanctioned countries, entities, vessels, financial transactions or designated persons.

Understanding these obligations is therefore an important component of broader trade compliance and risk management programs.

Targeted Financial Sanctions - Understanding Your Obligations

Date: 21 October 2026
Time: 2:00pm to 3:00pm AEDT

Topics Will Include

  • what targeted financial sanctions mean for your organisation;
  • identifying and managing sanctions risks;
  • checking whether a person or entity is subject to sanctions;
  • resources and support available from the Australian Sanctions Office; and
  • an overview of upcoming Australian sanctions legislation reforms.

FTA/APSA encourages members with responsibility for international trade compliance, customer onboarding, financial management, due diligence and risk management functions to consider attending.
