SPONSOR OF THE WEEK - Expedient Software

30 years in. Still building for what's next.
For three decades, Expedient has helped freight forwarders and customs brokers cut through complexity. Today, our platform brings compliance, consignment visibility and forwarding together in one integrated system, so your team works from a single source of truth instead of juggling disconnected tools.

That capability is why Australia Post, DHL and leading freight operators across the region trust Expedient to keep their operations moving.

But longevity isn't about standing still. We're investing in AI as a core part of the platform, not a bolt-on.

First up is our Document AI Manifesting Module, coming soon and designed to take the manual effort out of manifesting. It's the first in a new wave of AI-powered features we'll be rolling out as part of our long-term roadmap.

Proven foundations. Smarter tools. One platform.

MELBOURNE: Sal Milici recently paid a visit to McHugh & Eastwood and caught up with Aaron Dillon and team. They covered everything from workforce/training pathways and mentoring future talent, through to border delays, Terminal Access Charges, automation, artificial intelligence, rail economics and broader industry reform. Thank you to Aaron and team for their time, insights and candid feedback.

MELBOURNE: Sal Milici recently met with Neda Nikolic, John Laruccia and team from CSL to get a firsthand look at CSL Behring's mind-blowing Broadmeadows operation. The site is involved in the onshore manufacture of important plasma-derived therapies from Australian plasma, as part of a sophisticated manufacturing operation with both domestic and global significance.

We had a terrific, wide-ranging discussion about the complexity of CSL's business, the way that complexity is managed

across its operations and global supply chains, and some of the challenges and opportunities that arise at the intersection of manufacturing, trade, regulation and logistics.

MELBOURNE:
Lucy Robinson caught up with Melinda Imela Gavos, Nicholas Gavos, and Peter J. Gavos , a family-owned Customs Brokerage Gavos Freight Solutions - G.F.S who have taken a creative approach by exhibiting at the Italian Festival in Melbourne.
.
In an industry that is constantly evolving through regulatory changes, trade developments, and global supply chain pressures, it's refreshing to see businesses thinking outside the square and engaging with the community in new ways. These conversations are a reminder that while our industry can be complex, it's ultimately the people and values behind the business that make the real difference.

Westport faces delays as industry urges Fremantle freight efficiency

In a joint media release, Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA), Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) and the Western Australia Transport Industry Association (WATIA) said Fremantle would remain WA's primary container gateway for "at least the next 10 to 15 years", regardless of whether Westport proceeds on its original timeline.

They called for continued investment in container rail efficiency and an expansion of Higher Productivity Freight Vehicle access, arguing HPFVs are "more fuel efficient, safer and productive" and would reduce truck movements around the port. READ MORE (story credit DCN)
